First, imagine an assembly line. Now, imagine that the line is not a line at all but a criss-cross of paths across a kitchen island in a house within an Arizona subdivision. Next, imagine that even the paths can change over time (depending upon which uncle is taking a break, which cousin is taking over, etc.) such that the assembly line metaphor itself dissolves and ceases to be useful at all.…

Enchiladas and Missing Spatulas I am Hispanic, and believed that making enchiladas would be a breeze, it was not. It was rather hard and extremely messy. The naked mole rat and the blind mole rat have developed unique anti-cancer mechanisms compared to other mammals. Mammals typically have several methods, such as inducing apoptosis, releasing cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitors (bound to CDK complexes) which signal cells to stop within a stage of the cell cycle, and contact inhibition in which cells stop growing once they make contact with each other. These mole rats’ distinct mechanisms modify contact inhibition and apoptosis to achieve the mole rats’ cancer resistance and longevity (Seluanov, et.al., 2009; Gorbunova, et.al., 2012). The anti-cancer mechanism that the naked mole rat is the use of two types of contact inhibition.…
I am very interested in the Hispanic cultural. I have put a lot into getting to know this culture by visiting the Niagara cafe and talking to my friend Hugo who I have interviewed for this paper. As a Mexican American, I have learned many of the traditions and customs of the Mexican culture. One tradition, I have learned as a member of the Mexican community is called a dicho.
