Nek Mohammad is a middle aged man. He is a simple, naive farmer with a little knowledge of letters. He always finds pleasure in helping to the others, especially, those who are influenced by the devil spirits. But, he also wants to see his community politically strong. For which, he helps a local political leader, Sami Ahmad.
When the election time comes every time, he volunteers himself in his every kind of work without charging any money.
He has a daughter, Rukhsana and a polio affected son, Sukhadia. His wife is blind and has completely been lost her sight due to a bad cataract surgery.

A high-pitched sound of the drums and Dholes had made the village noisy and disturbed. The ferocity of the sound was so strong that it could be heard even in the faraway places also.
Nek Mohammad was playing the game of stick on the beat of these traditional musical instruments. He loved it from the bottom of his heart. Very a few had that kind of courage and strength to surpass him.
When he grew weary and exhausted, he handed over the stick to one of the young players. He resumed the play with the same force and vigour.
Nek Mohammad’s happiness was no bounds. There was a triumphant smile on his face as he had conquered the entire world. He was happy to think that as our forefathers had kept this treasure alive, we would also preserve it for our posterity. When we were gone, then, these youths would take it forward with the same zeal and passion.
There were many old and young villagers, gathered around them, just to encourage and rejuvenate them. But there were also not dearth of such people who were dead against this play. They took it as an un-Islamic. They would not take part in it, nor ever encouraged their children to do
