Wires laid all around the world gave an early type of internet. For Britain’s large empire spread out all over the globe, the telegraph was the ideal way to be in contact and to increase control of their colonies (Bynum, 2012). After a few years of trial and error, it was achieved to lay a cable from Britain to America. Cables to the Far East gave the British further control over its colonies. Telegraphy, with enhanced world-wide communicated further increased the British dominance of the world trade market (Hart-Davis, 2001).
