Priding themselves as a homogeneous nation, most Japanese have developed a mind set of “us and you.” Having roots in the blood and body identification, most Japanese assert their dominance over minorities. This action of hypodescent, where they separate foreigners and other minority groups and diffcratinate themselves as Japanese of pure-blood, has created a stigma where anyone with any hint of non-Japanese blood is not recognized as being Japanese. The example given was the Burakumin, who trace their blood back to workers who took jobs that were viewed as unclean, have been stigmatized and separated and even having a class stratification upbringing; are not seen as Japanese. Koreans too, who immigrated or were born in Japan are not seen as Japanese and instant as resident-aliens. The practice is centered around blood and physical characteristics, where ancestry and personal looks decide you education, job prospects, and legal governmental status. The theory of the sun was always something I had known, but a more detailed expiation had heightened my understanding of race and color. With the books info on Japanese culture, and the scientific evidence, it became clear that skin color only matters a the cellular level. That our stereotypes and shared pectinous are only geographically unique and actions that people share are ruminates of their ancestors culture, or even their current culture. I feel that have grown as a human being and am becoming more tolerant of different races, that my perception of race should not be based on phenotypical characteristics, but rather on cultural, social, and global settings. I feel by learning this I can be less objective to others, that by learning more of human migration patterns, cultural, social identities and the correlation of physical and mental characteristics would help me approach individuals in different ways. Learning what regions need compared to others and the proper way to go about communicating with them would make it easier for individuals to communicate and live more
