Continuing education is important for health professionals to be up to date in all different aspect. With accelerating advances in health information and technology, physicians, nurses and other health professionals must maintain and improve their knowledge and skills throughout their careers in order to provide safe, effective and high quality health care for their patients (Josiah Macy Jr Foundation, 2008). Each member of the team will require some type of training if it’s on the job or CPR. All members of the healthcare team require CPR. If someone in the hospital requires CPR, then non-medical personnel should be able to perform if needed. Non-medical personnel could maintain CPR certification at a basic level (HeartLights CPR, 2013). Office personnel, while less likely to perform CPR, may be still be required to maintain a basic CPR certification (HeartLights CPR, 2013).
