Deuteronomy 24:1-4 emphasizes the importance of the woman being given a certificate of divorce so she cannot be passed from one man back to another. A person can remarry after divorce in the instance of adultery. Jesus discusses this in Matthew 5:31- 32 when He is discussing the Deuteronomy message mentioned above.
