Reflection On The Exercise Science Program At Manchester Community College

As I continue my journey down the road of education I have been able to identify the type of student I have progressed into. I could not be more pleased with the way I have been able to overcome obstacles in my past years of education and truly focus on the aspect of learning. The way I am able to handle assignments and time management to this day has been such an improvement from my late stages of my high school years. Having the ability to manage my time wisely attending Manchester Community College is one of my strong suits. Fabricating a schedule that fits accordingly to my daily life has been my best decision so far at MCC. After attending class Monday through Wednesday I work part time delivering pizza’s to help pay my way through college. …show more content…
Asking questions is one of the only ways learning comes easy to me. I am able to ask my teacher or professor questions about information on topics I have trouble with understanding and with an explanation given to me of a real life example usually guides me towards the right direction. I am strongly dependent on visual learning and teaching styles. Whether a professor visually teaches or not I try my best to visualize and learn the information given to the best of my ability. There are times where I visually learn the provided information in the snap of a finger and other times I have to research it to fully understand. Being a member of the Exercise Science program at MCC my style of learning could not be more of a perfect match. With most of my courses being related to the body and its functions visual guidance is the most important aspect of learning for this major. Whether its diagrams, life size skeletons, or even my professor acting out movements the ability to learn in that academic environment is extremely reliable for the other students in the program and …show more content…
Being able to commute everyday to MCC, while living at home, and working a part time job are all apart of the positive side of the story. On the contrary, having the ability to manage all of that free time on my hands is apart of the negative side. Living at home through college will be a different experience for myself since I lived away from home for two years of my high school days. Knowing I will be in charge of my academic life at home will be tough because of how I will be using my time. I designed my schedule at school to fit my needs with work and home life. I am able to complete my classes Monday through Wednesday and work a ten-hour shift on Wednesday after class and Thursday all day as well. This is the tricky part, managing my time during the weekend. Having a girlfriend who is also in school to become a registered nurse, homework is apart of our daily activities spent together Friday through Sunday. The only obstacle to my learning and program goals I am able to see will eventually occur in the future. This upcoming summer I will be partaking in classes to complete my degree program on time. The only issue about this is I work over forty hours a week during the summer days trying to pay my way through college. With more schooling and more work squished together will cause a lot of stress in my life. So, I have to use my resources provided by MCC to get the most academic support possible to help me with

The futuristic, seemingly inconceivable concept of a medication that could replicate exercise is examined by Nicola Twilley in “A Pill To Make Exercise Obsolete”, published in The New Yorker. My professional goal is to obtain a Walden’s Master of Social Work degree with a specialization in crisis and trauma intervention. I would especially like to work with individuals affected by crisis, trauma, and grief, and help them overcome their personal and social problems that have, without a doubt, strong negative influences on their lives. Studying at Walden University is important to me, because this school will give me the knowledge and skills that I need to help people make the most of their own abilities, develop skills, and empower them to reach their goals. In the future, after gaining more knowledge and experience about mental health, I want to create mental health service agencies across the United States that will help the…

The experience that I went through and that I would like to share was when I played golf in the beginning of the year. I was fine managing my schedule during the first week or two of school, but then I started getting more and more homework as the weeks went on. I had a hard time keeping up with my school work and playing golf. I practiced every day after school and I didn’t really have any time after school to do my homework. Playing golf took up basically all of my time because I played it 5-7 days a week between practicing with the school team or practicing with my golf instructor/coach.…

Even though I applied for financial aid I was denied. I came to learn that the federal formula was weighted not only by income but also by assets. So my parent’s small nest egg, a modest home with sundry repairs to come and a mortgage to be paid every month for the next ten years, counted against me. I’d attend classes during the early morning hours, late afternoons, evenings and weekends as long as it didn’t interfere with my work hours. When breaks came around, while some of my friends were off on vacation or volunteering in faraway countries, I worked extra hours.…
