When we talked about 9/11 twin tower, we often neglect people’s stand point of view and walks of life. People in america and people in Saudi or people in China will hold various of views. To some middle easterners, it is reasonable for them to view 9/11 as an art work. They view this disaster as an revenge and they feel the joy. As a chinese, I do feel some sort of joy. But this joy is not irrational, it is rather a chain of logic. America is the most powerful country in the 21st century and it is the rule maker worldwide. The existence of America represents peace and authority. When it is challenged and destoried, I gained joy. To americans, some feels joy because there are no connection between them. If one of them who died was neighbor on the same floor, they might not feel the joy. I think art is not about irrationality, but it is about the mix of mundane and surprise. If 9/11 happens every single day, it would became another ordinary thing that everyone hate. The ordinary life we now live in will be the “surprise” in that context. 9/11 is chaotic and irrational, it existed within the context of order and peace.
