A woman known as Veronica famously gives Jesus her veil to wipe his face. Eventually, Jesus can no longer bear the weight of the cross. So, the guards make Simon do it. He seems to just be a random bystander. Eventually he reaches the place of his crucifixion.
Mary, mother of Jesus, and Mary Magdalene, along with others watch Jesus get crucified. As he is crucified, weather and physical anomalies occur. Jesus prays for God to forgive those who crucified him. He hangs near two criminals, one of the criminals states that he deserves to die not Jesus. Jesus forgives him and promises him he will enter heaven with him.
Eventually, Jesus dies. The movie shows one rain drop fall to the ground. As a result of this a massive earthquake appears. The tremors destroy the Holy Temple and rip the sacred cloth covering the Holy of Holies. The Jewish Priest appear horrified. Satan, then, appears defeated. Jesus’s body is buried. So, I already was aware of most of the things suggested in the film. I also doubt everything was biblically accurate. One part the film emphasized that I found surprising was the degree at which Pilate went to, in order to stop Jesus’s execution. In fact, the film suggested that there were major uprisings and that if Pilate had not ordered Jesus’s crucifixion, tons of people would have died. Perhaps even Pilate feared his own death, and loss of control of the region. I was also not aware Jesus was only beaten by Pilate in an attempt to not have him killed. I will have to look into the biblical accuracy of these parts. Moreover, the film was interesting and worth watching. Personally, I wish it was in English, but I suppose it was more authentic. I also think the brutality was so extreme that it distracted from the film. However, the degree of brutality was probably accurate. Therefore, it was a good
