The Fascinating Subject Of Greek Mythology

Mythology is in my opinion an extremely fascinating subject. It’s not only about what or who a civilization worshiped, it’s about their culture the way they lived and interacted with nature based on their gods. There is more to mythology than just greek there are many others including; Egyptian and norse, Which are just two of the ones i will discuss. Greek Mythology
Gods and Goddesses:
There are a collection of twelve gods of the greek pantheon. The control nature and the entire world. First, Zeus, Zeus is the king of the gods and the god of the skies, thunder, and lightning. Second would be Poseidon, Poseidon is Zeus’s brother as well as being god of the sea and earthquakes. Third is the god of the underworld and death hades.

Most People think that his name was Hercules, but that is actually the roman version. Heracles was the son of Zeus and a mortal woman. When he was a baby he was sent to earth to be with a mortal family. He grew to be immensely strong. Hera, Zeus’s wife, became angry that he had a child with another woman, so she gave heracles many dangerous tasks to punish him. The second hero I will mention is jason. Jason was not a god or the sun of a god he was a mortal man who went on an adventure with his crew the argonauts They were going to steal a ram’s skin from a dragon guarding it. First is Ra, Sun god and king of the gods. Second is The moon god khonsu. Third is god of the scales of death, Anubis. Nut goddess of The sky and stars. Osiris ruler of the afterlife. Anuket Goddess of the river Nile. Hathor goddess of love. Bes dwarf god. Apophis god of snakes and war. Babi god of Baboons. Bast goddess of cats. Geb god of the earth. And isis goddess of magic marriage and healing.
Stories:
There are numerous stories of the egyptian gods most of them having to do with love affairs. In one story the sun god Ra finds his wife with one of the other gods and chases her out of the heavens. He gives up after getting tired of chasing her and forgives her. There were many tombs with drawings and symbols called hieroglyphics. All tombs have hieroglyphics that depict the journey into the afterlife and the weighing of your heart. Egyptians believed that if your heart was lighter that a feather( depending on what you did in your life) then you would go into the afterlife happy and in paradise. However, if your heart wasn’t lighter than a feather, your soul would be forced to wander the world in search of rest for
