These situations are particularly important because of the embarrassment brought on by the acts, and causing victims to be afraid of speaking out and instead internalizing their pain and suffering. Many women have learned how to domesticate in a household where cooking, cleaning, and sexually pleasing the male is the norm. In addition, along the way, these activities become expectations of the male, and if the women produce anything less, it can lead to violence from their male counterparts. Overtime these actions are seen as ‘normal’ family behaviors, and are being passed down to the children and creating a cycle of domestic violence.
