“An estimated one million children live illegally in the United States, most from Mexico and Central America,” stated Sonia Nazario; some come to find work, others to find family, but all have one dream in mind; a better life (221). In the novel “Enrique’s Journey,” Sonia Nazario chronicles the life of Enrique, a young boy from Honduras, and his family and friends. In her novel Nazario gives us a glimpse into a boy’s expedition to the United States, one trip that hundreds of immigrants make every day. “Enrique’s Journey,” and the decisions made by the people involved also shows the principle of moral relativity.

Moral relativity is the view of ethics, morality, and the position of right or wrong based on an individual’s thoughts as defined by Emrys Westacott (The Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy). The thoughts of a person though are heavily based on the culture in which they grew up in. In other terms, an individual person decides what is right for themselves. his morals were quickly altered. He turned back to drugs and alcohol. He also begged Maria Isabel to come to him, leaving his daughter behind as his mother once did. His morals changed drastically from when he was young and the one being left. At that point, in his eyes, his mother 's decision was beyond wrong. But now that he’s grown up and is put in the situation his mother once was his decisions seems almost to match hers. A decision he thought at one point was so morally wrong is now the one he is choosing to make.
