The book of Ruth fits into the redemption. “The book of Ruth opens with the death and loss of life and ends with a star-studded genealogy (Acosta). Boaz is Naomi and Ruth’s kinsmen-redeemer. He preserved Ruth which also meant preserving Naomi’s life. Boaz foreshadows the future redeemer which is Jesus Christ. Ruth is added into the genealogy of Jesus Christ. The characters in the book of Ruth become ancestors of Jesus Christ who is the central figure in redemption. Jesus Christ is the one who will redeem the world from sin. Ruth’s ethnic and national background is not forgotten not forgotten in the book, “Ruth the Moabitess…” (Ruth 2:2). This teaches individuals that even though Ruth was a foreigner, she was able to “live in covenant with Yahweh and benefit from faithful relationship with him” (p. 167). God’s involvement is found in Ruth, “…She happened to be in the portion of land belonging to Boaz” (Ruth 2:2). This shows that God does not separate himself from the Earth. God watches over Naomi and Ruth and allows them to have an encounter with Boaz. People need to have faith that God has a plan for them and that they are even better than their plans. Furthermore, everyone needs to seek God and ask for his protection over them (Ruth 3:9). Just like God prospered Ruth and Naomi with protection, food, and life; God wants to prosper everyone who has faith and remains loyal to him as well. This means to even have faith in Him during difficult times. People also have to be willingly to leave everything that does not please God. Just like how Ruth left her old life and refused to go back to it. From the book of Ruth people learn that we need to not only have faith in God that he will protect but also people need to be loyal and obey
