One of the most widely used personality assessment instruments in the world is the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator also known as MBTI. This method was developed to understand individual differences by analyzing the combinations of preferences. This analysis basically tests us about our way of seeing the world, our way of acting and reacting. There are 4 principal criteria of assessment: extraversion/introversion, sensing/intuiting, thinking/feeling, and judging/perceiving. Usually it is difficult to put people in these personality types boxes as they are complex beings and their preferences, therefore their personalities tend to change during their lifetimes. Although, looking his behavior, we could say Paul is someone who fits best to the ESFJ personality type as he is very optimistic, very emotionally intelligent and social. Also he likes analyzing things and he has a realistic, practical approach. He enjoys physical activities and although he is emotional, he has a good level of control over his emotions. ESFJ personality type is described as the portrait of a person who is the life of the party, popular and supportive towards the people around them. In high school, they are the cheerleaders and the quarterbacks, setting the tone, taking the spotlight and leading their teams forward to victory and fame. Their biggest motivation in life is to make everyone as happy as possible. As we read in the case, Paul describes himself in a way that matches ESFJ’s description: “Larry can’t deny my ability to deal with creative, operations, sales and marketing.
