I have chosen to run a workshop/focus group to obtain the project requirements, constraints and risks of doing this project. I have done this because obtaining information in a group will be quicker than obtaining it individually through interviews or surveys. It also allows people to bounce around ideas within that group setting. The group will consist of 5-10 people ranging from end users to project managers and stakeholders. For this to work, focus group users need to feel their opinions and time are valuable, so feedback gained from this group should be taken under strong consideration. In order to plan the focus group effectively, there are a few other things that need to be decided, these include:
• Where to have the focus group at?
• When to hold the focus group?
• Who to invite to the focus group
• What time it should be held?
• How long it will go for?
After this is all decided, I will send out an email to all participants to invite them to the focus group and let them know all the details and that food and drinks will be available.
Questions that will be asked:
• What’s your name? How are you involved in the project?
• If you could eliminate one major bottleneck in the current infrastructure, what would you choose?
• What does past experience indicate about complications that might arise during this project?
• What sort of things have already been tried to resolve this situation?
• From your perspective, what makes this problem unique?
• When this project is complete, what would you deem as a successful outcome?
