The airbag has killed almost blamed 11 people and many people were injured. Wharton management professor John Paul McDuffie pointed to the Takata use of ammonium nitrate in cartridges. The cartridge absorbs moisture which makes them to explode in higher level of heat and humidity. Many Takata’s competitor did not use the dangerous nitrate chemical. However takata was confident about their manufacturing expertise, said McDuffie.
Ways to check whether your car is affected by recall or not:
1. You will need to know your car’s VIN that can be found in lower driver side corner of the windshield. It can also be found on your insurance documents.
2. Once you get the VIN, punch that number into NHTSA’s online VIN-lookup tool.
3. If your car is affected, the tool will make you aware about it.
