Summary of Context
The Social Network is a film about a Harvard varsity student Mark Zuckberg who was fighting with his girlfriend and eventually gets dumped. In his anger, Mark goes and blogs nasty things about her and this resulted in the birth of a website called Facemash. He eventually gets charged for violating an individual’s privacy and violating security copy rights. He gets suspended for six months and just directly after he meets a group of students who were intrigued by his story and his blog. They share an idea that they have been playing around to create a social network for Harvard University. Shortly before they could propose how they were going to do things Zuckberg took the idea which he claims to have remodelled and reworked.

Mark Zuckbergs Facebook was certainly a good quality product as it fulfilled the needs of many. Many were very satisfied by this Facebook as seen in the film when Sean Parker is blown away by this Facebook. It shows that it was beyond what customers expected

1. It is the position in the market space that the brand occupies in the mind of the consumer
2. Strong brands have clear and unique positions
3. Mark Zuckerberg had a very unique idea as he criticised the Harvard system of being nothing different to Friendster as well as Myyspace. He found a way to differ Facebook from these other social networks and as a result he occupied a huge share in the market. It is said that initially it had 658 members and eventually over a thousand and in the end we see over a million.

1. Occurs when a brand tries to change its market position to reflect change in customer tastes

To use the law to get money from money from someone who harmed you. It is seen in film where the Winkelvoss twins try and sue Mark Zuckerberg for stealing their idea.

Chief Financial Officer is a person who is in charge of all the financial matters of the business. Eduardo had this position in Facebook as he was in charge of all the money matters as he provided all the start-up capital as well as money for expanding
Legal obligation
It is a moral or legal duty. It is something by a person by which he or she is supposed or bound to do certain things. It is almost like a contract
Blog
It is a site that is setup [by an individual to give comments, suggestions etc about a specific topic. It is a web where people regularly discuss news or report news about a particular subject. In the film Mark Zuckberg in the beginning had a blog in which he said nasty things about his ex girl friend. This site was available to everyone in the varsity and eventually everyone knew about it.
