A study that is related to what I noticed in my interviews is the study called Effectiveness of Emotion Regulation Training on the Reduction of Craving in Drug Abusers. (Choopan, Kalantarkousheh, Aazami, Doostian, Farhoudian, & Massah 2016). The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of Gross model-based emotion regulation training on the reduction of craving beliefs in substance- dependent individuals. The study was a quasai-experimental design with a pre-and post-test. It contained a control groups and an experimental groups. The sample population was addicts who visited addiction centers. The sample size was 30 that was randomized and classified as drug-dependent individuals. The control group had no changes when they visited the addiction center, but the experimental group had a emotion regulation workshop implemented in their visit to the addiction center. To measure participants increase or decrease in substance abuse temptation, the study had the craving beliefs questionnaire. It was a self-evaluation questionnaire that assesses substance abuse-temptation-related beliefs. The participants in my interviews al reported having a negative emotion present when started and continue taking drugs. Yet, the difference between the study and my observations of the interviews were the sample size, and setting. I only interviewed three people compare to the study sample size of 30. I felt like my setting was more personal since it was face-to-face interviewing while being alone with them in a quiet
