The novel, Stroke of Insight, was very enlightening on how an individual felt while experiencing a stroke. The novel was very informative on strokes but also had a storyline that drew the readers’ attention in. It helped to learn about strokes not just through lecture, but also through an individual’s true-life experience. The novel was an easy read and brought creativity to the course. I can utilize this story, by sharing it with my forthcoming clients, to show them that they are not alone in experiencing this recovery. This novel is something that they can relate too and help them understand why things that happened to them occurred. I can also utilize this novel by providing it to friends and family, whose love one who had a stroke. The book can help these individuals understand what their love one is going through and help them to learn to be strong and supportive. I believe reading other’s experiences on the same situation, you are experiencing, really helps to see different sides of the situation, which can allow for a more positive view. …show more content…
Learning about all the different assessments and treatments pertaining to stroke, allowed me to really connect to this novel. Throughout the different chapters, I found myself thinking of different ways to assess this client and diverse methods I could treat this patient with. It was also very educational to understand how a client with CVA feels from the very first moment the stroke happened to the whole recovery process. Having a better understanding of how our patient feels throughout the different stages of stroke and recovery, can help us have a more holistic view of our
