Introduction
As our third assignment I choose to conduct my own research regarding this particular article that I read about a couple of months ago and again in September 2015. The Gwinnett Daily Post, (GDP) has been reporting on the topic of the 300 stop - arm cameras to be used on Gwinnett County public school buses. Keith Farner of the Gwinnett Daily Post reported that, “an approved intergovernmental agreement between Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) and the Board of Education was approved October, 2014’. The company, who developed the cameras; Redflex Traffic Systems homed in Arizona and GCPS have signed a five-year contract and …show more content…
The goal within this program is to improve student safety and to modify driver’s behaviors. The incident files that are created are verified independently by the company Redflex, then they re sent to GCPS for verification before citations are sent out. Which leads me into this question: What has happened to humanitarian in our country? Why would you choose to avoid state laws that protect our children’s lives regardless if it was my child or yours? Children today are our futures of tomorrow. I have read the articles surrounding the stop – arm cameras and while the citations continue to rise each and everyday within each and every state, and I have also read the different fines that the violators face after choosing to ignore the stop signs with some receiving more than one citation because of ignorance. I have also read about the adding of extra man-hours that needed within the legal institutions to process all of these payments, or of the cases that may go to court, and what bout the ones that just don’t show up? The one question I keep asking myself is but what about the children? What is it going to take to rectify this growing problem within the United
