It was a normal drive to work. Same beach, same buildings, same studio. I got out of my car and walk in the studio. When I went over to my desk, there was a note on my computer. The note said “We have a special job. If you’re interested, come to the conference room.” On the back of the note, it said “Bombs Away.” I wanted to know what the job was. As I walked down the hall, there were tons of military drawings on the walls. I figured that the other animators got bored and drew up something different. But when I got down to the conference room, they had at least twenty different drawings of Disney characters in war. Two other animators were in the room as well.
“What is all of this?” I asked them. There were drawings of Donald Duck in a Navy, Air Force, and the Army outfits.
“There propaganda, for the war. We need to support the boys.” One of the animators said.
“We were planning to make a

He green lit the idea right then and there. For the next few hours, we worked nonstop on the cartoon, getting at least ten different ideas for cartoons. While working on one drawing, I heard a knock on my door. Standing there was a man in an Army uniform.
“Can I ask you a favor?” he asked me. “I want you guys to draw a logo for our new submarines. There called mosquito boats and we want something special for them.”
“Yeah, we can make you a logo for them. It would be our pleasure.” I told him. I went and told my colleagues and they were very happy to make them a new logo. After a hour of work, we finished the logo and we sent the Army our logo idea. After that, the day was over. I went home tired. I wanted to make more cartoons, though. They are fun to make and a break in the norm. But not today. The day was over and I was home. The studio was locked and everyone was gone. So I went into my room and layed on my bed. Then happily fell

To begin, let’s remember back, let’s search our reminiscings, our memories, for traces of a scenario in which the tree of liberty to which Americans shed their blood, sweat, and tears was still fledgling, when its branches were in the beginnings of flourishes than would grow to shade and shelter the world. A time when life was synonymous with oppression and the struggle to lift free of that dread shadow that stretched from across a wide, wide ocean was more than threats and news stories, more than sporadic strikes. When red was for red coats, more than a color on our star-spangled banner, before we had a star-spangled banner. Remember—no, imagine—that, because that’s all most can do. Because it’s not the most that give their futures to the few, it’s the few that give their futures to the most.…

This’s just perfect I couldn’t have chosen a better place to die.…

As I walked into the local barber shop for my weekly shave, I walked in on the barber sharpening his his razors. Per my usual routine, I hung up my bullet studded belt together with my military hat, and said “It’s hot as hell, give me a shave.” Slightly inclined in the barbers chair, I explained that several other troops of mine would have the same length beard as I. As I continued to talk, the barber enveloped a sheet around my redden neck and I shut my eyes out of fatigue. He began to apply the first coat; I told him how easily I could doze off.…

“I don't have any respect at all for the scumbags who went to Canada to avoid the draft or to avoid doing their fair share.” This quote from former Marine Corps Staff Sergeant (and honorary Gunnery Sergeant) R. Lee Ermey, talks about draft dodgers during the Vietnam War. My grandfather was drafted, but he did not decide to leave to avoid the war like those draft dodgers R. Lee Ermey was talking about. I doubt that he had the same attitude as Ermey, but then again, he was in Army Communications during the war, not the Marine Corps. Recently, February 10, 2018 to be exact, when my grandfather recounted his military service from 1968-1970, he shared with me some valuable life lessons he gained.…
