company but would combat the issue of marketing and advertising the adventure centre to a larger market group. Currently, Spike Island Adventure have expanded their product and operate in three surrounding towns, Aghada, Monkstown and Crosshaven. However, the customers from these towns are brought to Spike Island in Cobh. By conducting business with these surrounding towns, it could potentially enable Spike Island Adventure to extend their business to these towns in the future when there is more financial resources available.
In addition to this, Spike Island Adventure could possibly form partnerships with other tourism businesses or businesses that are offering a similar product/service. The adventure centre has already established partnerships with Fota Island and the Titanic Heritage Centre in Cobh. However, there is an opportunity for them to partner up with more businesses outside of Cobh in order to develop the company further. Some possible partnerships could be with other adventure centres such as Oyster Haven, who offer a similar product but yet both businesses are still unique in their own way, or collaborate with a tourism business that offers a completely different product but targets similar potential markets such as Cork City Gaol or Youghal Clock Gate Tower. Spike Island Adventure – Threats Threats are considered any external factors that may potentially harm an organizations growth and development by acting as a barrier that prevents the firm from achieving its main goals and objectives.

These can include obstacles that the business faces, a change in quality or standard of your product/service, changes in technology, environmental factors , financial issues and an increase in competing organisations. (“SWOT Analysis”)
Although considered a strength, the location of Spike Island Adventure can also be considered a threat for a number of reasons. One main reason why the location would be a threat is due to the transport to and from the island. The business is reliant on the ferry, based in Cobh harbour, to transport visitors to and from the island and also have speedboats that can carry up to 12 passengers to and from the island. However, this poses as a threat as there a limited spaces on the boats so it would make it difficult to attract the walk-in market or the cruise tourists as the demand will exceed the amount of boats available and also the amount of seats available on the transport to and from the island will be insufficient. The ferry is also operated on scheduled timetable so therefore the day trip would have to be booked well-in-advance if it is to be successful. Another aspect that may be considered a threat to Spike Island Adventure is the weather. The weather can have a huge impact on the visitors experience as the adventure centre is heavily dependent on the weather as part of the product or service as practically all activities offered at Spike Island Adventure are conducted outdoors. The weather also affects the accessibility of

This can occur from existing competitors or new competing businesses that may enter the market. Although Spike Island Adventure offer a unique product, they may still be faced with strong competition, from other organisations who are competing with the adventure centre both indirectly and directly, in the same market. This can pose as a threat to Spike Adventure due to the other threats mentioned previously. For example if Spike Adventure is affected by bad weather they may lose their potential customers to another tourist attraction that provides indoor activities such as Extreme Sports Cork or Escapade

Little is known about the origin Robin No-one knows how Robin Hoods Bay got its name, but it was recorded as such from the sixteenth century. Without the setting in “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, there would be no plot in the story. For instance, with an isolated island there is no liberation, and there is no rescue. The island is surrounded by water with no other places located within swimming range. There are sharp, jagged rocks deep within the vast ocean surrounding Rainsford, therefore, swimming anywhere has a high risk of injury. “Ship Trap Island” got it’s name from stories of boats hitting the large rocks and sinking, so no sailor wants to go to the island.…
