The First Diet The first diet I researched is the South Beach Diet. The South Beach Diet is a diet to help with weight loss and heart health. It makes claims such as, “See results in your first week”, “You’ll learn to make better food choices, for life!”, and “It’s flexible to fit your busy life”. This diet entails eating lean protein, which includes fish, pork tenderloin, and skinless chicken, so you can enjoy the same foods in a new way. It also entails, vegetables, whole grains, healthy fats, and fruits. It costs $10.71 a day and up to $500 total. The creator, Dr. Agatston, used it on his patients to lower their chances of getting heart disease, and after a while, he realized that it wasn’t a good diet for the long run and to eat the rest of your life. It eventually converted American’s to eating too much sugar and fats and it was unhealthy.
It is unhealthy after the first couple of days or weeks because it’s hard to keep with it because it is telling you it’s okay to have a little fat, snacks, and sugars in deserts. All your eating cookies that can lack some or most key nutrients. You can’t live off of 3 cookies a day, you need other key nutrients necessary to live. But ultimately it’s unhealthy because you are still getting a lot of sugar and a full days worth of meals costs $15! That’s way too much. But back to the nutrition, although you are losing weight, it’s not good weight. It’s all your muscle and then you’re skinny and weak but with a lot of fat, so it’s not all that good for you. Also it can get quite addicting because we should all admit that we like to have a little sweet something every now and then. And since the ads consist of celebrities and athletes that we look up to, it is considered a fad
