The article discusses the importance and necessity of educating future social workers on how to apply and use social justice practices in their professional careers. I really enjoyed reading about the CSJER education program, which was an education program that inspired students to take actions in working towards social justice as students, all through providing different direct service experiences. This particular part of the article made me reflect on the social justice work I have done throughout my educational and professional career. The article makes very valid points regarding what is impacting social workers from incorporating social justice into practice. One main area that I agree with is the lack of education and training on how to implement social justice. I provided and assisted the veteran in applying for Medicaid, SNAP, as well as social security disability. Also, I advocated for my patient to the doctors, that it would be beneficial if he received some in home skilled nursing services and a home care aid to assist with his chores at home. In this case, I feel as if I did was very effective in providing the patient with the services he needed.
