One theme that I find is constant throughout American history is “making the world safe for democracy”. Throughout United States history many United States leaders constantly feel the need to barge into other countries and attempt to have them under our ruling. This theme is first shown during the Native American era when america was first found. Upon the meeting of the Native Americans the first thought was that they were savages and needed to be “helped” when in actuality they attempted to change them and strip them of their culture. Americans attempted to put Native Americans under their ruling despite their resistance. Further into the the future during the industrialization era, as america developed more and more machinery they took their advances to the west which consequently was also during the time of the Gold rush. The west is Native american territory therefore americans moving out there in attempt to find gold and industrialize that portion was disturbing their area. As mentioned before America felt as though that they were superior to other countries therefore also causing them to feel the need to implant themselves in countries when help is not needed. For instance, during the situation with the filipinos america did not allow them to conserve their own culture. They educated the filipinos their own way rather than helping them in areas that they actually needed help in. Rather than putting in better resources and more they taught them their culture.
