Bolivar's early years of life were spent roaming around his city and learning philosophy and literature from his tutor, who taught him many important things. Bolivar started participating in the patriotic society in an attempt to free South America from the Spanish colonial rule, but that not all he also hosted many military campaigns which allowed many new enlightenment ideas to flourish. Bolivar always supported liberty, equality, and self-determination. He used these 3 values to motivate his followers to not give up. Liberty influenced Bolivar to fight for freedom even though it was challenging, which inspired Simon Bolivar and his followers to confront the Spanish about their freedom.
