Catastrophic incidents that involve both man-made and natural causes, first responders should utilize their available resources within the private sector and government agencies. First responders should utilize these resources before, during and after an incident for an effective response. The example that will be used is the California Aflame because this event leads to implementing these resources that include the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and National Response Framework (NRF). These two systems will demonstrate the effectiveness for preparing and making the effort to spread awareness for future catastrophic incidents by having an effective means of communication, establishing command, coordinating roles and …show more content…
According to research, NIMS is the basis for the NRF because that system provides an incident management process. This process defines the structure for NIMS command and management structures (Security, 2013).
NIMS is like a template that you could use for any type of incident on a small to large scale because it’s consistent and used within the nation to incorporate the whole community. By incorporating the whole community as stated from early on, working together as a whole can prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to, and recover from the catastrophic events regardless of the size, location and complexity (Security, 2013)
Conclusion
All that have been carefully considered (above), these two systems demonstrated the effectiveness for preparing and making the effort to spread awareness for future catastrophic incidents with having an effective and efficient means of communication, establishing command, coordinating roles and responsibilities that can save lives and preserve the properties. From catastrophic events, too responding to a smaller scale incident, NIMS and the NRF are excellent resources that first responders can utilize before, during and after these events (above).
