2.7 Connections
Introduction
In this report I will be analysing the connection of death that was significant across the texts: Skinned by Robin Wasserman, My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult, The return man by V. M Zito and John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars. More specifically the paradigms of death that were presented: Hope of fighting or surviving death, no choice in death and the acceptance or certainty of death.
Synopsis of each book
The novel My Sister’s Keeper is about a 13 year old girl, genetically designed to be the perfect match in order to save her dying sister, decides to sue her parents in order to save her own life.

Lia Kahn the main character of the novel Skinned was in a serious car accident that lead her body dead but her brain alive. Her brain’s impulses were then put into a mechanical body and now she has to rediscover what it means to be alive.The Return Man based in a post apocalyptic society where Henry Marco becomes an illegal hitman. He finds and kills the dead on behalf of the grieving family members all while looking for his wife, Danielle.
Hope
The hope of fighting or surviving death is a paradigm presented to us in the text via the parents in both my sister’s keeper and skinned and the return man himself, Henry Marco. They had hope in saving a loved one from death’s grip. That hope drove them to do what they thought was the best choice. Hope in Skinned was portrayed by Lia’s parents. When Lia woke up they had to explain why she is the way she is. Their reason was “We had to...we didn’t have any other choice. Honey, you heard the doctors, you were going to die. This was the only way.” (pg 31) Similarly the parents in my sister’s keeper when they found
