Although most people would disagree, I think that the driving age should not be risen for two reasons. One reason I feel this way is because after so many years of having the driving age the way it is, there is no valid reason to change it now. The driving age was changed to 16 so that the blood alcohol limit for under-20s would be decreased to 0. Parliament also felt that it would strengthen the restricted license test. Another reason I disagree with the age change is that I do not want to have to wait any longer.…
Also, the number of teens killed will only grow. According to the article, “Alexander Sostarecz: Raise driving age to 18 when teens are more responsible” says, if the driving age was raised to 18, roads would be safer and teenage death rates from car accidents would be lower. This means that raising the age would make the roads safer. The amount of car accidents would be lower because the age was raised.…
When you are able to drive it saves time and effort for the both of you, and more can get done in less time. You would also have more fun if you can drive yourself around, because everyone's idea of fun is different, and being able to go where you want on your own means no one can tell you no and no one will be bored. While it is true that one out of nine teens will get in a wreck, this does not account for the fact that if you raise the driving age it will just be one out of nine young adults over eighteen. Raising the driving age will just raise the age of the people in the statistic. I believe this happens because it is about how much experience you have driving,…
Growing up most kids can’t wait until they turn sixteen so they can get their driver license. It’s even a dream to most teens and to take that away would be a world of terror. After reading both articles “Should the Driving Age Be Raised to 18?” and “Do Teens Need Graduated Licenses?” I can explain the different opinions on why teens shouldn’t get a license or drive at sixteen and if teens should go though a program called “Graduated Driver License” to keep lives safe and reduce car accidents yearly.…
Every year the government spends a lot of money on young people related driving accident. The legal age should be raised to twenty-one because teenagers are drinking and driving. Teenagers don't know much of the consequences that come with driving. Sometimes they are irresponsible and Government need to make the driving test harder if they are not going to make the age higher.…
Sounds awesome, right? Many people argue that the driving age is too young so they think that it should be changed. Do you think it should or should not be changed? This might be a hard question but, here is my opinion about the driving age. Should the minimum driving age be changed, well I think that the minimum driving age should stay the same age.…
Teens must know how to be responsible and “self-regulate” on their own. Teens need experience in order to learn, and raising the minimum driving age prevents teens from getting much needed experience at a younger age. Those who support raising the minimum driving age may argue that teens are reckless and irresponsible. However, teens only account for about 12 percent.…
One reason the driving age should be raised is because countless teens are involved in accidents every year. To begin with a 2017 article approaching the topic of current percentages of teen car wrecks. In 2015, teens, ages 16-19 were killed due to a car accident putting them in emergency departments for medical care. They then looked at numbers and found that 2,333 teens were killed in the U.S. and 221,313 were in critical care in 2014. This means that six teens ages 16-19 died every day from motor vehicle injuries.…
I believe the teen driving age should be raised because teenagers don’t have much responsibility, enough experience with driving,…
Most teenage drivers are involved in car crashes every year, and more are killed than in any other age group. Even to this day, 6,000 teens die in accidents annually—more than fifteen a day (Triplett 1). These alarming statistics prove that receiving a driver’s license at the age of sixteen is merely too young. Teenagers are incompetent about being on the road, which increases the chances of putting others at risk because they have not developed a strong level of maturity and experience. The driving age among teens should be increased because facts prove that teenagers cannot handle the physiological and physical challenges that approach them on the road.…
“Is 16 too Young to Drive? Growing Numbers Think So.” USA Today. 1 Mar. 2005:n. pag. Global Issues 2006.…
There are teens at the age of eighteen who have their license and can drive their friends around but lack experience. If kids are driving by themselves for an extra year, then they will be more responsible at the age of eighteen when they drive with others. With this inexperience, they have a crash rate higher than any other age group. If teens start earlier and drive more before they are free to drive their friends' places teens should lower the number of accidents they have on the road a substantial amount. Teens should be able to drive at a younger age because it can help them be more responsible.…
Should Teen Driving Age be Raised? “8,000 people were killed/involved in an accident by 15-20 year old drivers” according to . This has many parents asking if their teens should be driving so young. At what age should teens be allowed to drive, and what additional rules should apply? The age that teens start driving is very important because young teens are still growing and still maturing.…
Sixteen year old drivers aren’t the safest drivers on the road. Why should we decrease the legal driving age to fourteen? We shouldn’t! Evidence shows us that at the age of 14, the frontal lobe is developing, and traits such as maturity and responsibility are lacking. The legal driving age should not lower to fourteen.…
They say that driving doesn’t depends on the person age it depends on the person him self. Nearly 1.3 million people die in car accidents every day. But the numbers of car accidents that are caused by adults are less than the number of car accidents that are caused by teenagers. Adults are matured enough and can drive safely and know how to drive more than teenagers.…
