Goodman Brown sets off through a gloomy forest, scared of what could be behind each tree, also having the thought that the devil or Indians could be lurking there. Brown runs into a man who was acting like he was expecting him to be there. The man that Goodman ran into a man who looked normal except for the staff that he was carrying. The staff resembled a serpent, which seemed so lifelike it looked as if it was moving. Goodman Brown stays on God’s side for his wife’s sake and goes on to find his wife at a ceremony in the woods. He ends up getting dragged into the middle of everything and tells his wife to look up to heaven and resist the devil. He soon finds himself alone in the forest. He returns to Salem Village and everybody looks at him as if he were evil. He notices Faith at his house and cannot seem to figure out if the whole story that night was real or just a dream. This reflects social implications because of how Goodman Brown went along in all his decisions and the effects it had on him and his wife. It also shows that people are not who they say they are. If all the things he saw were true then all the people in the dream have been hiding things from him and not being truthful and they were all exposed in this “dream” that Goodman Brown
