Nurses have to demonstrate that they are qualified to practice in a clinical area of nursing at a predetermined level by passing a certification exam. Once they become certified, it validates that their abilities, skills, and experience are beyond what is required for a Registered Nurse (RN) license (Aacn.org, 2016). Unfortunately, I was unable to locate a certification for a Women’s Health Clinic RN, however, I was able to locate four core certifications available for RNs through the National Certification Corporation (NCC), which included: Inpatient Obstetric Nursing, Maternal Newborn Nursing, Low Risk Neonatal Nursing, and Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (Nccwebsite.org, 2016). NCC’s listing of certification exams was more extensive for advanced practice nurses, therefore, if you are interested in acquiring your certification at the RN level, or after you have become and Advanced Practice Nurse (APN), then you should visit their website at http://www.aacn.org/dm/MainPages/CertificationHome.aspx for more…
