'In the book, A Long Walk To Water, a sudanese boy named Salva had to overcome hundreds of deadly challenges, survive a war, walk for over one thousand miles in harsh terrain with unknown dangers, lead thousands of boys to safety, and even live in an entirely new country but no matter how hard the challenge was Salva always came through. In this essay I will talk about how Salva overcame all his challenges with his persistence, help from his his uncle, and memories of his family. Salva’s Uncle has saved Salva many times throughout the story. It started off with Salva at school. He was suddenly attacked by soldiers and was forced to flee his home and go into a bush with a group of people who were ambushed by soldiers that left him behind. This is how his uncle helped him on his journey. Salva’s persistence also helped him through many tough challenges. Right after they passed lion territory they reached The Nile River. There, everyone in the group worked hard and built many boats for them to cross the Nile. And when all the boats were checked and fixed they were ready to cross the river. Salva and his Uncle got onto one of the boats and they paddled for hours leaving Salva sleepy but scared of falling off. After a long time they reached an island full of fisherman that live near the Nile. There, they saw an amazing amount of food and everyone begged for food except Uncle whom they thought was the leader. Because they thought this he was automatically given food which he shared with Salva. Soon after, they slept but were attacked by hordes of mosquitos. In the morning people filled their gourds with water and those who didn't have gourds wet their cloths with water. And then they headed into the Akobo
