Ruby Bridges Research Paper

Ruby is by far one of the most prominent civil rights activists. Ruby Bridges has faced so much and is an important figure in the civil rights movement. She had many difficulties while going to school, but still graduated. Ruby Bridges was an essential figure in the civil rights movement. First, she was the only black at a William Frantz school and graduated. She still puts up with hate while being successful and being different. Then, people got fired and resources were cut off if they helped her. She was such a big deal that people couldn't talk to her without them being harmed. They even went as far as “greeting” her with a black doll in a wooden coffin. This hate got worse and worse when parents transferred schools because of Ruby. Lastly, Ruby had problems with segregation. Ruby Bridges wanted to attend a white school because it was better for her. They allowed her to, but even on her first day, she was the only black at her school because they still didn't want to integrate it. There were lots of issues that Ruby had dealt with. Some people didn't want her to go to school and some suffered from even talking to her. Others may argue that her father didn't want her to go to an only white school. Her father thought she should not attend because she didn't feel safe. Also, many people didn't like Ruby so much that people got fired from talking to her. If employers heard that they had a connection with Ruby, they couldn't hire them or wouldn't let them in the building. However, after people got fired and realized there was no harm, people didn't care, they even supported this step in education.
