She was a highly involved civil rights activist. She believed that everyone has the right to stand up for what they believe in and was not afraid to share her personal thoughts and values. She showed great leadership by protesting segregation laws and speaking up for African Americans and their rights. For instance, she lead millions of people in a boycott against riding the buses. The Montgomery bus company lost thousands of dollars after months of the boycott. They finally brought an end to bus segregation, and soon the end of all segregation. Rosa also exhibited leadership by joining the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People or NAACP and by being the secretary of the Montgomery NAACP for twelve years. According to NAACP.org “The mission of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination.” SENTENCE. In 1992 she continued to bring attention to the past segregation issues by publishing a novel called “My Story” that was about the pathways to freedom. Many people called Rosa a hero for not conforming to the ways of society. Rosa was humble and never claimed to be anything other than a woman standing up for what was right during a time with so much wrong. She committed her life to doing everything she could to promote equality to make the world a better place. Many followed in Rosa’s footsteps and began protesting with her. The obstacles she overcame throughout her life as an African American woman are truly inspiring. She made a tremendous impact on the world we live in
