INTRODUCTION:
Everyone has a dream in life; following it can be the most important thing in ones life. The Road Not Taken written by Robert Forest and Harlem written by Langston Hughes discuss the importance of following your dreams. Frost does a better job at expressing to his readers about going after their dreams unlike Hughes who leaves the readers unsettled. However, Hughes gives the readers a deeper understanding of the consequences one faces if they procrastinate their dreams.

Even though everyone has a dream people generally find a reason to not pursue it. The use of imagery in Harlem intensifies the readers understanding of the consequences. For example, in lines four where Hughes places the image of a festering sore, or line six where the images of rotten meat can bring a reader back to a time he or she once smelled something awful. Even though Langston Hughes expressed the consequences of procrastinating ones dreams and goals Robert Frost provides a clearer understanding to the reader the importance of following ones dreams.

Both Robert Frost and Langston Hughes created poems to help people understand the importance of following their dreams. Robert Frost’s The Road Not Taken gives the reader undoubtedly more details on why following your dreams are so important.
