How To Write A Reflective Essay About My English Class

Improved Essays
Over the past several weeks, I have inquired different perspectives of the essays I have written in my English class. There been multiple times where I have struggled constructing different areas in writing due to several reasons. My strengths and weakness are generalized in areas such as structure, vocabulary, style, grammar and format. Moreover it indicated different path roads, in educating myself in being a better scholar. While developing the ideas and writing the major assignments, I realized it helped challenged me to learn and develop new skills on my writing. Nevertheless, all of my assignments of the English course helped me improve in different fields of writing a distinguished paper.
In the beginning of the semester, I was quite anxious in the introduction of my English course, especially when the first major assignment was assigned. For the first major assignment, the class was instructed to write a narrative paper, through my perspective I found it intriguing by the idea of it. Especially in my high school career my teachers would not emphasize the importance of the narrative writing style. In addition, the assignment became more interesting when Professor Torres, described the depths of literacy. Through basic knowledge I limited literacy to scholarly journals, article and books; however Professor Torres directly explained how literacy takes part of everyone’s daily life’s. Therefore the class was open to pick any literacy type that involved more than just books, such as music, movies and even television shows. Therefore I decided to write my narrative paper over my favorite television show, The Nanny. In the narrative paper I stressed on why I chose a television show because I was not very fond of children’s books during my youth. During my childhood, I explained how I found the books very predictable and the main ideas of the stories would be repetitive and boring. While constructing my first assignment, writing my personal views were intriguing and effective, however as I went into depth with my writing, I found myself to have trouble sometimes formatting the paper, which led to more errors in my grammar, structure and in my choice of words. Therefore, when I first wrote my paper, I began to notice the challenges that I might face when constructing the other major papers throughout the semester. Before the class began to continue on the following assignments, Professor Torres began to stress about the importance of the MLA paper format. She would explain how important it is to not only educate ourselves about the format, but how convenient it will be for future assignments. She continued by demonstrating how it should properly be constructed because it will support the organization of the papers topic and information. The class was soon introduced to the discovery project that was linked with the freshman’s app class. We were told to choose a social issue topic, in order to begin the major assignments. By then my Professor introduced us to the formatting style of annotated bibliography. It was quite anticipating when first introduced, however Professor Torres did an excellent job in explain the steps in constructing a well written annotated bibliography. The assignment, help me improve the importance of constructing work citation. In addition, when learning to annotate a scholarly journal, guided me to improve my knowledge in my other classes and gain more information for the subject I have chosen for the social issues. Before composing the assignment, my professor educated the class on how to develop well construed persuasive essay and speeches. She first demonstrated the class several oral personation from the 2016 election speeches. She then identifies several key points. For instance, many of the presenters used family memories to demonstrate a connection with the audience, in other terms to use resources that can be relatable to others. Secondly, my professor also specifies on how the presenters would use words to be motivational or inspiring. Furthermore, as my Professor would repetitively demonstrate the class examples, I would be more intrigued to write my persuasive essay. Especially because of the position I hold in abortion. Through writing it was pleasant to write unique positions such as in my third assignment. Once more, through writing I learned that a person can openly express one’s true values and mindset as a modest

I’ve always considered myself a writer. It was the one hobby I could point to and say I both loved and was semi-decent at. However, taking an AP English course such as this one changed my idea of just what a “writer” is, all the while transforming how I read, interpret, and understand the written work of others. I never expected that I would one day be unable to read something without “arguing” with it in my head, or that that hot seat would change how I felt about and approached my writing. Then again, I never thought this class would be how I learned how to cook either.…

Growing up with catholic education, I was primarily taught the importance of reading and writing. The generic hamburger 5-paragraph essay format was on our 10 commandments of writing and so was the idea of a minimum 6-8 sentences per paragraph. Entering high school English class, I found myself in a different situation than most typical high school students. My school offered International Baccalaureate English classes; these classes were structured differently than that of AP or Standard English. In this class, we were left to fend on our own.…

At the beginning of the year, I was not very excited about having to write argumentative papers. This is because I did not care enough about the assigned topics to have an opinion.
