Personal Reflection Of Self Assessments

Superior Essays
This paper will focus on personal reflection and analysis of the self-assessments provided by Pearson. The various assessments offered insight regarding a personal’s personality and characteristic, feedback on how an individual works with others, and analysis of life in organizations. The results of these assessments are based off of the answers that an individual provides – the answers then generate particular results which are dependent upon certain criteria. Utilizing those results to reflect on personal experience within the workplace is another main focus of this project so that one may gain a better insight and gain more knowledge about Organizational Behavior. Understanding what type of organizational structure an individual prefers can help one to eliminate any job dissatisfaction they may be feeling. In the organization structure portion, I scored a 46 in the delegation portion of the assessments – this means that I still have room to improve, but I am on the right track of understanding the importance of delegation. In the careers portion, I scored a 38 in the portion of how motivated I am to manage – I feel that this is pretty accurate because I am constantly looking to move up and take on more responsibility within the workplace. Well …show more content…
I am always trying to ensure people that I understand how they feel and that I can empathize with them. This mindset has always hindered me from making tough decisions and in my journey to be placed in a management position, I have gone quiet on a lot of topics that should be voiced (issues with staff that I do not speak of because it would hurt their feelings). God has taught me to treat others how I would like to be treated – although I would like people to empathize with me, I would also like to know where my shortcomings are so that I may better myself in the long-run. Accepting one another, even with all of our flaws, should not be something to fear but something to embrace and cherish. According to Fischer (n.d.), “it is important that you understand your own behavioral tendencies and the behavioral tendencies of other individuals if you really want to understand how organizations behave and how they should behave according to God’s purpose” (The Gospel and Personal Reflection, p.

After completing both the DISC and JUNG Typology assessments, there are many outcomes that I found interesting. For starters, in the DISC assessment there were multiple categories that gave me various feedback. These included decisive, interactive, stabilizing, and cautious categories. My decisive score showed moderately low on the “D” spectrum and I thought that was very accurate. I tend to be hesitant on sharing my opinions in big group setting and I also would rather support someone else’s decisions rather than argue with them unless they are completely wrong.…

The concept of holiness, justice, and love are an excellent complement to Anderson seven-step decision-making process. The JCM was originally created as a means to offer different principles that can be implemented at an organization to enrich the workplace for those involved. The JCM is essentially a work questionnaire that uses the information found to create statistical data in order to show the perceived amount of job motivation in employees. The first theory proposed five different job characteristics that could play a role in effecting the ‘outcomes’ based off of three different psychological states (Hackman and Oldham, 1975; Hackman…

This course has been a great course to really take a look at yourself in the professional and personal aspects of life. The self-assessments have confirmed things I knew about myself and brought to light areas of opportunity. The Milestones like the SWOT and Personal Development Plan give you an opportunity to acknowledge those areas of opportunity and think of ways to turn them from opportunities to skills. In the organization that I work in there are not areas of “conflict” per say but there are areas that I can improve upon while I am with this organization.…

I have to understand that there are people within the office that potentially may or will have differing personality characteristics than mine. By understanding and recognizing these differences I will be better suited to work with anyone in my organization. I tend to work well with anyone regardless, however I will be able to see what motivates my coworkers. If I am in a management role or the person in charge of a project I will be able to use personality differences to my advantage to where I can place employees where they are the strongest in order to help with team dynamics when we are forming, storming, norming, performing, and adjourning.…

Many people probably think they have certain personality strengths until they take an assessment to see what they actually are. I recently took a personality assessment utilizing the DISC method of scoring to see what my more dominant personality traits were. Self reflection is the mental process that acquires knowledge and understanding through thoughts and experience which helps encourage self awareness. This essay focuses on assessing my objectives and how I have developed my skills from the beginning of this semester until now. At the start of semester A, I wasn’t confident in preparing for the skills sessions and workshops. I wasn 't always able to find the correct answers to the workshop questions set which made it relatively difficult for me to participate in lectures despite finding myself at the library every other day. I began by listening to knowledge based lectures online and making notes alongside the recommended reading given by my lecturers or the module guide.…
