Management and Model
Amy and Ryan were the guest speakers and are the founders of Amy’s flower. The company was started in 2010 with 15 employees. The structure of the company is that Ryan manages the corporate affairs of the company and Amy as a florist herself manages the production.

For Amy, the recording and keeping good records of all its inventory through the updated data base has made the business operations with efficiency. For example, encoding bar codes on flowers and recording times and locations of the flower delivery. Customer satisfaction was high with the feedback they received from their clients.
The 10% discount for the customers’ feedback through the commentary was a compelling tag line for the company in which it continued to receive more shoppers. The costs to buy the flowers varies on occasions. Special days like Christmas, Mother’s day, and Valentine’s Day, are periods where costs tend to increase from other times.
Challenges and Succession Plan
The challenge for the company is to find the right people to work as a florist. Losing a florist is a setback to the company. The florists are recruited with no skills of the industry and are trained at the company. The company does not have a succession plan and also do not have a blue ocean strategy.
