What characteristics of effective teaching explain the effectiveness of these parts?
I believe the most effective parts of the lesson was when the students would work together to compare and contrast arctic animals as a whole group. This allowed the students to feed off of each other’s answers and notice other similarities or differences between the two animals. This also allowed me to see which students were actively engaged with the lesson and which students were struggling with the concept. Effective teaching is when the teachers promote student learning, assess the students where they are at, and help them to construct knowledge. I believe that my lessons on comparing and contrasting were effective and insightful to the students.
4.) What parts of the unit were less effective?
I believe all parts of my lesson were effective and essential to the students. The assessments might not have been the most interesting part for the children, but it was certainly one of the most important parts. I would not have been able to see the students progress if we did not have assessments after each lesson.
5.) What insights did you gain from the discussion? How might you make sure of these insights to improve future …show more content…
I used technology while I was planning, implementing, and reflecting on my lessons. If I did not use technology to do these things I believe it would have been very difficult. Using technology allowed me to have all of my work organized, use sources that helped me plan my lessons, and help me reflect on my lessons.
Analysis of Student Learning
1.) What did the assessment data reveal about the learning of all students?
The data that was received over the course of the three lessons allowed me to see what the students did well on and what the students struggled with. This indicates to me that majority of the students understand and can apply comparing and contrasting. The data also lets me know who I need to individually work with to guide them in the right direction. Attached below is the assessment data and student work samples.
