Puppyintraining Incident Analysis

According to puppyintraining.com, by Colby Morita, the six common puppy training mistakes are made right away. He answered my sub question: What are the most common dog training mistakes? The most common mistake is saying “no” with your pup’s name because you shouldn’t associate negatives with the pup’s name. If you tend to always associate negative commands with your pup’s name it will get confused and think its name means “no.” The second mistake is not starting training right away from day one. Your pup will start learning from the very first day you get it; that is why I trained Neveah how to sit on the very first day I got her. It’s good to teach your pup good manners rather than letting it develop bad habits and bad behavior. The third one is not using a crate from the start. It will be easier to supervise and potty train. The fourth one is repeating the commands because if you do so, it will start to think that all those “comes” means “come”. The fifth one is don’t cuddle and reassure the pup when it is scared. For example, if there is a storm and your pup is scared of it, do not run over there and make the puppy feel calm, because it has to get used to it. The sixth one is putting the puppy’s nose in its potty if it goes potty inside the house, catch it in the act and punish it. It will eventually understand that the reason you are getting mad is because it keeps going potty in the house, so again the advice is to make a spot for it to go potty outside; this spot is not to be played in. I have now accomplished almost all of those steps. I have taught Neveah, our dog, how to look at me when I say so, and to come when I say so. He's still a bit jumpy at that, but I say “ahh-ah” and she sits back down, because that's the word I use and she understands it. She also knows how to walk on a leash, but I'm still trying to get her to stop pulling. She knows how to go down but not on command yet, so I still have to give her treats for that and “roll”. She knows how to stay down until I say “come.” She also knows how to shake when I tell her to. Right now, I'm currently training her how to crawl. She knows where her bed is and when I tell her to go to bed she does so until I say “come”. For my interviewee I called ‘Kelly’s Blue Ribbon Pets’ and interviewed Kelly Baesel, CAH, a dog groomer and a pet trainer. I interviewed her because she is the most experienced dog trainer I know and because she answered first. I interviewed her in person and caught all of it on video. She was a really nice lady with a lot of helpful information. I used my Iphone to record her, but since it was on video, I couldn’t send it or share it with Mr. LaFever. I went in formal attire to show her the respect she deserved and to indicate that I would listen attentively. I asked her seven questions: How can I get my pup to stop defecating in the house? What method of teaching these tricks are the best? What are common dog training mistakes? What equipment might I need? Which is the best method of disciplining my puppy: positive or negative reinforcement? How can I get my …show more content…
The best way to discipline is to teach them self control. You can't get the treat until you give up the treat, you can't go on a walk until you give up the walk. As far as discipline and where some people think that they need to be spanked and their nose in their potty is really a failure on humans to properly train them appropriate behavior because everything the dogs do is normal and natural by our standards, but we all have different standards. What you want to do is interrupt the behavior to where everyone is safe and reuse your brain to reevaluate the situation and say, “How did that happen? What can I do so it won't happen

Because of this, pet owners treat their dogs as members of the family. However, this is a mistake. While it's normal for human siblings to establish a kind of pecking order, the family dog must never be allowed to rise within this hierarchy.…

Ya think people like it when their dog tears up toilet paper rolls? If they do, then for one, they’re dumb, and on the other hand they didn’t think about the actual dog at all. If their dog is an untrained mutt who doesn’t know right from wrong, then there might be consequences later on. To be honest, if they don’t train the dog whatsoever, then it might not even like the owners. Training their dog should be mandatory because it promotes the health and safety of the dog, the family, and the community.…
