Their goal is to have the majority of the population being cared for at home as opposed to in clinics and hospitals. The United Kingdom has an increasingly aging population, similar to the United States. In order to keep up with the high demand for elderly care, the government has put a large sum of money into community healthcare. This change will allow patients to remain independent and in the comfort of their own home, while also saving money by keeping patient’s out of acute care settings. Additionally, in home care allows medical professionals the opportunity to give one-to-one, personalized care. I have found aspects of their system that I really enjoy, while I’ve also realizing things about our healthcare system that works well. If I have to choose one specific thing that surprised me the most, it’s that the NHS truly does give free and accessible care to anyone who requires it. Accomplishing that task can be very demanding and expensive, yet they have managed to make it work for this long. Nevertheless, the NHS has a large challenge ahead of them: providing care for the aging population without going bankrupt. As of this moment, I cannot say which healthcare system is the best; I can only pick and choose the aspects of each system that I feel provides the maximum quality of care
