Nurses must be dependable, able to handle stress, pay attention to detail, have patience, and cooperate with others at the workplace. In the article, Patterns of Relating Between Physicians and Medical Assistants in Small Family Medicine Offices, the authors express the importance of teamwork and cooperation regarding the relationship between the physician and the medical assistants. (Elder, N.C., Jacobson, C.J., Bolon, S.K., Foxler, J. Palleria, H., Busik, C.&Pugnale, M. 2014, Annals of Family Medicine). Relationships between colleagues in the workplace are extremely important if the practice is going to be successful. My personality profile almost lines up with the traits registered nurses must possess. There are a few things I need to work on, though. I do not handle stress or conflict well, and will have to learn how to deal with difficult situations without panicking. Another aspect that I need to work on is being more assertive and outgoing. I am very introverted and shy, but in the profession of nursing, I will need to interact daily with people. This will help me gain experience in the health care field and learn more about working in a medical facility. This will also help me to network with other health care employees and to find out what kind of facility I would enjoy working in. After I obtain my degree, I plan to start applying to different places who are seeking registered nurses.
