To begin your boot camp of tennis you must learn the steps and strides of a forehand. The forehand is the most used and important shot in any tennis match. Before learning anything of the other required skills a player must grasp this shot. To triumph a forehand you must shadow these steps. First, a player must find their desired grip for their racquet. Gripping the racquet a certain style has an impact on each shot. First, there is the Continental grip; this grip is an older style grip that can be used on any shot, but manly the serve and volley. Second, the Eastern grip is a very common used grip that is very versatile for switching between a top spin to flat shot. Next, the semi-Western grip lets the player utilize more top spin on the ball giving the player more control and consistency. Finally, the full Western grip is an extreme grip that creates immense top spin that allows you to hit the ball well above the net line while still landing in. There is no perfect grip, each one has its own advantages and limits and choosing the one that fits you is your decision. Turn your body at a 90 degree angle to your dominant hand’s side so your stomach is facing the fence. Bring the racquet backwards, performing a looping motion. Swing your opposite arm around and point your front foot in the direction you want the ball. Place all your weight on your back leg. Now, swing forward hitting the ball out in front of you. Bring your racquet forward from the looping motion to a low to high movement, creating top spin. Step forward with the weight shifting to your front foot and push off the ground creating power.
