Prewriting: The Writing Process

Prewriting is the beginning stage of the writing process, and there are some things I like to do before I am prepared to write the opening statement. The best way I start is by asking myself the question of, what should I be writing about? Figuring out what is the topic or theme of what I am writing about is one of them. If I choose something that moves you in some way, my writing is more likely to be interesting to the reader. So, “Why would I want to write about it?” The purpose of your writing and it is connected to the first opening question. There are some of potential purposes I may have for a piece of work to explain, to inform and/or instruct, to describe, to narrate, to persuade, to move, to amuse and/or entertain.
