Though there are many different types of country music, the ones that were popular during this period were the Nashville Sound and contemporary country. The Nashville Sound, most popular during 1957-1971, originated in the Grand Ole Opry. Country artists all around soon strived to perform in Nashville. As these innovations quickly spread like wildfire, the Nashville Sound earned the title of being one of the most popular sounds of music during this time period.
