Without cheating students could actually better their education, Chace describes. This problem can’t be solved with one aspect of college life, but all of them. Chace relays that students are often given the weight of the world, but this isn 't the case. This burden is not just students, but the whole institutions. The only way to get rid of cheating is to spread “moral awareness,” describes Chace(177).…

When appealing to higher loyalties, students believe their responsibility to some other entity, usually their peers, is more important than doing what they know to be morally right. Ultimately, a student will lie their way through their grades because they are given the opportunity to. When an instructor does not uphold strict discipline, opportunities arise for students to take advantage of this situation. The instructor must set an stern environment against academic dishonesty, otherwise a pupil will abuse the opportunity, feeling the instructor does not take cheating seriously. There is so much pressure put on students today to get good grades in high school in order to get into a good college. Many students feel the need to cheat. I read an article titled “Too Much Pressure” by Colleen Wenke, published in the 1998 edition of Fresh Ink, a collection of work by Boston College’s first-year writing course students. Wenke feels we are creating a society where many students think that cheating is acceptable because everybody does it. In the article, she writes that cheaters today aren’t the people you would normally expect.…

Cheating seems like a task that students would be afraid and ashamed of, especially at the college level. Getting caught and punished and being too scared of the consequences along with the fact that it is immoral are all reasons I do not even consider cheating. The fact that all it takes is a few copied sentences in a paper to ruin your gpa and future is insane, but that is how it should be. It is not only the slackers cheating anymore, but rather highly intelligent, yet lowly motivated students. With modern technology along side to help, cheating rates are escalating to an all new high.…

After reading Beat the Cheat I realized that the older the student becomes the more there is a possibility that they will cheat on their exams. The statistics were surprising to me and a lot higher than what I assumed from a college student. The reason that the statics were alarming to me was because I always felt the older someone’s age was the wiser they were. Some reasons that students cheat is because they either do not want to fail in their academics or also because so many other students cheat it almost seems normal therefore, making students more susceptible to cheating. I feel that it is also wrong for a student to buy an essay for a class assignment as opposed to writing it themselves.…

One of the main problems with class and school would be cheating and plagiarising other peoples work. Some people feel that a honor code at our school would help reduce or even get rid of these things. I, on the other do not believe that a honor code at Victor Valley would be an effective way of eliminating cheating and plagiarising. One main component of cheating is if the person can get away with it. As a comical cartoon by Aaron Bacall says “Recent Research Has Shown That a spycam Can Greatly Improve the Honor Code”.…

I was taught not to cheat the moment my feet touched the classroom. In grade school, we are told that cheating is a bad thing to do. In high school, cheating was a poorly kept secret among the student population. In college, cheating is a temptation that students must abstain from in order to receive the best possible education that they can. Taking the honest path will ultimately benefit students the most by practicing positive traits like honesty, and integrity.…

Due to the growing prevalence of cheating in a Higher Education setting, Universities should create and enforce legitimate repercussions to those students caught cheating, in order to avoid the collapse of Higher Education, as we know it today. As Professor Doom writes, graduating cheaters degrades the institution from which they come, no matter how sparse. While a degree is a degree, they are only as strong as the establishment from where they come. Students should realize that the degrees they pay a lot of money for lose their validity as people cheat, so the students, themselves, should band together and fight to prevent cheating.…

Since the high school teachers do not look at cheating, colleges think that they are smart and accept them. This comes back to being the high school teacher’s fault. When the students who have been cheating in high school then go to college and get caught cheating, they are sometimes kicked out. They do not know how to do their own work without taking it from someone on the internet. Students who really should be in college, do not cheat in high school, often have lower grades because teachers are grading professional papers for the students who cheat.…

Similarly to source C’s views, source F believes in the importance of student communication when popularizing the view that cheating is wrong. Author's Donald McCabe and Gary Pavela claim that colleges with students who engage in conversations about the dishonesty and wrongness of cheating with a strict view towards the honor code have less cheating on campus. In their argument, the author's make claim that “it is significant that the highest levels of cheating are usually found it colleges that have not engaged their students in active dialogue on the issue of academic dishonesty.” (McCabe and Pavela) In that event, teachers must also obey and enforce the policies, because teachers who communicate the rules of the code and strictly follow the consequences should any need to be given, there will ultimately be less cheating inside of the classroom.…

Learning is a process of training hard in life. Learning is not only for the resources, but to make beautiful personalities, and give people the success in life. All begin with the good grades in school, and a graduation from the colleges. That lead to a bigger problem, in which students may cheat in colleges, disregarding the effects it has on them and others around and the punishments with consequences they may face due to their actions. It is a persisted problem in the education, not within our country, but others as well; that makes the quality of our education is increasingly diminished.…
