It makes everyone unique and allows them to find similar parties and candidates that they believe can help be a part of the solution. I believe that the punishment should be more severe for animal abusers because they are living creatures and can feel the torment. I believe that there needs to be stricter gun laws and background checks in order to prevent mass shootings and unnecessary death. It is too easy for people to get firearms and far too many people have them. This belief has not always been constant in my life; when I was younger I thought that guns were interesting and fun to shoot on the shooting range. However, when I was twelve years old, I saw a movie called April Showers that changed my whole perspective on it. The movie is about the Columbine Shooting and it struck something in me. These high school kids were able to get guns and make bombs and kill their fellow classmates, all because they were upset that they didn’t fit in. That isn’t right. The United States has more mass shootings than anywhere else in the world. Just yesterday, June 12th, it was the one year anniversary of the Pulse Nightclub shootings where 49 innocent lives were taken. I think that there needs to be a higher gun age. I am 18 in six months and in Utah I am legally allowed to own a concealed weapon. Eighteen year olds are too young to be carrying around something that can end someone’s life. I think animal abuse and cruelty should have tougher punishments. There are some religions that require animal sacrifices, though. The question is: would the government be able to enforce those harsh laws if it interferes with a person’s religious beliefs? It would lead to a lot of lawsuits and controversy. I want better gun laws and restrictions, which would definitely be a source of debate. People love their guns, whether it be for hunting or protection. Introducing laws to regulate who gets firearms and who doesn’t would most likely cause an uproar, since our right to bear arms is in the Constitution. Legalizing marijuana would also cause controversy. People hold religious and moral beliefs that drugs are wrong and that legalizing them would desensitize the youth to the danger of drugs. Marijuana is also considered the gateway drug, so I’m sure people would have concerns about it introducing their loved ones and children into more hardcore
