A majority yes vote is needed for the amendment to pass, and would be added to Section 12 of Article XV of the Constitution of the State of Ohio.
What does it allow and what are the limitations? The proposed amendment would allow for commercial production exclusively in a few selected counties within Ohio, including our own Hamilton county and neighboring Clermont county. Marijuana would be available for recreational purchase at around 1,100 locations within the state. The establishments of consumption must carry a license and cannot be located within 1,000 feet of a church, synagogue, mosque, etc., public or private school, state-licensed day care center, or public playground or child’s park. After a certain period of time, any of the listed establishments listed above may not force a preexisting marijuana dispensary to relocate within 1,000 feet. In addition, no state law nor local law can prohibit the development or operation of marijuana progression, whether it be it’s growth, cultivation, or extraction.
