Oh The Places You’ll Go As college students, we are subject to a substantial amount of pressure. Stress is a natural piece of the college-life puzzle, and can be triggered by anything from renting textbooks, to buying groceries, to putting gas in our cars. One of the largest factors leading to our anxiety can be choosing our major, because this decision will determine what career path we will take. For many students, this dilemma can take years to resolve. Fortunately for me, I know exactly where I want to go in life, and how to get there. A major building block of my life is basketball. My father raised me with a passion for the game. I held my first basketball before I held my first bottle, and I plan on keeping it a key component of my …show more content…
In the education realm, you need to have a four-year Bachelor’s degree. This is a non-specific qualification as there is no distinct degree necessary to become a coach. You also need to have two to four years of training, generally in the form of being an assistant coach. The average salary for a basketball coach in Florida is forty-eight thousand, one hundred and fifty dollars a year. Fortunately for me I have found something that I have a true passion for, so the money is not a factor. From where I am now, to living my dream it would take approximately 5-8 years. In order to become a licensed psychologist you will require a Bachelor’s degree, followed by a Master’s, which is then followed by a Doctoral, and sometimes a year of training after completing your schooling (approximately eleven, to sixteen years from where I am now). The average, yearly salary in Florida is sixty-eight thousand, two hundred and ninety dollars, but this is not a factor in my career choice. I have inherited numerous things from my mother one of which being my passion for psychology. Being a psychologist is not just listening to patients talk, and then figuring out what is wrong with them. Being a psychologist is building highly, personal relationships with people, helping them open-up, and face their own problems, and then treating them accordingly. They are responsible for observing, recognizing, diagnosing, and treating emotional, behavioral, and cognitive problems. Not only does this require a great amount of expertise, but also it takes somebody who can listen, apply their knowledge, and build relationships with people
