In my Introduction to Counseling Psychology course, I was given an assignment where I had to do as case study on a client and develop a treatment program. “Quinn is a 19 year-old, Chinese-American male. He is presenting with concerns dealing with his poor academic performance and stress. He also complains of headaches but doctors have indicated that there is no specific cause for them” (). I discovered that it was more than someone laying on a couch “whining” about their feeling. I learned that it was an actual science based on theories and facts, which required legitimate investigation and research. Before this course I didn’t really think much about psychology and thought of it as “fake” and guess work. The greatest insight I obtained from these courses was when I realized exactly what I wanted to do. Up until the time I took Introduction to Counseling Psychology, I was unsure which field of psychology I wanted to go into. After taking this course I was confident I wanted to go into counseling psychology.
PERSONAL TRANSFORMATIONS I felt that these classes transformed me personal in regards to opening my mind to new learning experiences and helping me find what I feel is my calling.
